Do you ever have things just pop into your mind as you read the Scripture? Connections never made before, or associations of memories and ideas always stored in different mental folders that suddenly merge.
Well, it happens to me frequently – even daily. It must be the ministry of the Holy Spirit for I don’t consider myself to be that creative. So I’ve taken to writing them down and that decision was made shortly after my arrest, during those first stress-filled days sitting in the jail in Shelby County, Tennessee. Days of confusion and distress, wondering how things turned out the way they had, and where the path on which I suddenly found myself would lead me.
And as stressful as all that was – and maybe because of that stress - those were the days I found my way back to God. For that I am grateful. For that reason I don’t begrudge the time the Lord required of me. Eternity is coming and all this will be but a moment in light of the time I will spend with my Savior and my loved ones there.
As I share these thoughts with you, I pray that something that I’ve written – some idea or thought the Holy Spirit has impressed upon my heart and mind – will make some impression on you that will lead you back to, or closer to, your Savior.
